As a bonus, I review a Tinder profile from a reader, using The Profile Checklist. Knowing your flaws will get you on the path to multiplying your matches. Download it here for free.
#1: How does Bumble work?
Here's the shortest and easiest Bumble setup guide ever:
You download the app.
Upload several photos.
And you start swiping.
Bumble is almost identical to Tinder.
Except for one crucial difference that's VERY important, especially if you want to get the best Bumble bio as a guy…
#2: What separates Bumble from Tinder
If you don't know the difference between Bumble and Tinder, you're about to miss out on many dates.
You see, the dating market is super competitive.
And to snatch a piece of the dating pie, Bumble needed a power-up to take down Goliath… AKA Tinder.
Bumble found its strength by empowering women.
Many women on dating apps were sick and tired of getting raunchy and sexist pick up lines.
And that's no surprise.
So Bumble forbids guys from talking to their match first.
Only the woman can send the first text.
Which might sound pretty good if you're a man.
Let the ladies experience the stress that comes with breaking the ice.
Amirite?
But for men there are a couple big drawbacks to this female empowering concept.
#3: The biggest reasons to dislike Bumble
While Bumble only has a couple of flaws, the two mistakes are enough to kill your chances of talking with your match.
Let me explain.
Not only is it the woman's job to start the conversation.
But she must send the first text within 24 hours of matching.
If she doesn't, the match is lost and you can't ever talk to her again.*
Now for the second weakness in Bumble's design.
After she talks to you, you have a window of 24 hours to reply.
If you don't, say goodbye to your match forever.*
*Unless you pay.
When you cough up some dough, you can:
- Give her an extra 24 hours to reply
- Give yourself an added 24 hours to text back
I don't recommend paying for another 24 hours of hope.
It's not worth it.
If you go freemium, you do get one try to reset the 24-hour timer.
Now for the good news….
#4: Why Bumble might just be the #1 app for you
It's a bit of a bold claim, but I think your exact type is on Bumble.
But first a sincere question:
What is the best place to find potential partners?
…
…
Did you think it over?
If so, you likely answered a location.
Bar. Street. Online. Church…
But it depends!
First you need to know what your type is.
Only after can you decide where to find her.
Are you at a congress for lawyers looking for an adventurous party girl?
Good luck.
Would you search for an educated business lady who works out 5x a week at a rave party inside a Berlin cellar at 5 AM?
Of course not.
Like a real life venue, Bumble has its own unique audience.
Bumble is mostly used by people between the age of 22 and 35..
Who are typically highly educated. And usually looking for a relationship.
The TextGod team has used Bumble in Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, England, Ukraine, Lithuania, America and Thailand.
And the Bumble women in each of these countries are largely the same.
So if you're looking for brainy adults with manners, Bumble is for you.
And don't worry.
Just because Bumble users read books doesn't mean they're not sexy.
You mostly find bikini ladies like this on Tinder, but Bumble has its share of gems too.
Although they usually don't show as much skin.
#5: How to get her to send you the first message
For guys this is the most important on Bumble…
After applying what's in this tip, my silent matches plummeted and my talkative matches climbed.
As you probably noticed, a match doesn't guarantee a conversation.
No matter how much you want to, you can't speak until you get a text.
And sometimes that 'hello' never comes.
Why?
Tough question.
If she matched you, she is at least interested in you.
Interested enough to send you a message, right?
Not necessarily.
Her silence largely boils down to three reasons.
- She's busy and distracted.
- She's on Bumble for entertainment and validation. And wanted to know if you liked her.
- She got frustrated thinking of an opener and gave up. And she didn't want to say "Hey".
But can you blame her for not wanting to say "Hey"?
She's been down this path so many times, she knows where it leads.
When she made the mistake of saying "Hi" and is stuck in an unending loop of chit-chat.
Rather than being bored to death by another guy, she chooses to lose you forever.
In short, your match is free of blame.
But are you?
Or was there something you could have done to help her send that first text?
Hint: there is.
Let that sink in for a moment.
…
Do you have a clue about what I mean?
If you thought, "Write a helpful bio", you're 100.69% right.
While Bumble bios have several goals, one of them is to assist her in sending you an effortless first text.
Instead of racking her brain in search of a good opener, she simply takes a glance at your Bumble bio.
Et voilà .
She has an icebreaker that starts an exciting conversation brimming with positive vibes.
And it cost her zero effort.
So how do you help her with your Bumble profile text?
Find that and more in tip #6, or check out the video I made for this article.
2 Quick facts:
- 1. TextGod Coach and co-founder Dan should spend more time working and less time banging
- 2. Bumble babes I'm revealing part of his Bumble strategy in this video
That's right.
You can see his Bumble profile text + one of his conversations in this video.
Watch it here:

#6: How to make her say what you want to hear
If you're tired of women opening with "Hey", this is for you.
Because you're about to learn how to make girls say what you want to hear.
I'm sure you've noticed.
Almost all women on Bumble say:
The last 3 women who opened me on Bumble.
You already know why: women don't want to think about what to say.
And so they shoot you a text to keep the match
So when you think about it, her "Hey" is a compliment.
Do you know what's really messed up about this one-syllable opener?
Bumble gives women who type in "Hey" a warning.
Yet so many ladies send "Hey" anyway!
Anyway, let's get back on track.
What sucks about her one-word opener, is that it's super hard to reply to!
Without a clever response your convo is going to be as dry as my girlfriend's pussy when she gets awkwardly approached by yet another overconfident neckbeard that thinks he can replace game by a fedora.
For her to start the conversation with a bang, she needs inspiration.
Where does she find it?
*Bumble bio peeps around the corner*
By giving her a relatable topic with your bio.
Not everyone can talk about cars, sports and other stuff you like.
(Although being unrelatable can be good if you want to use your bio to filter like a baws.)
All this abstract mumbo jumbo will be made clear with a screenshot in a moment.
TextGod coach Dan likes to talk about food.
Everybody shoves food down their necks. And most people enjoy it.
Food can also be erotic.
Just think of a woman sucking on a lollipop. Or sensually feeding her grapes or chocolate covered strawberries.
So coach Dan wrote the next bio for Bumble:
Stupidly simple.
And highly effective.
Thanks to coach Dan, women finally knew how to send an exciting opener.
Some ladies enjoyed their new found creativity so much, they thanked him for helping.
Coach Dan's bio doesn't have to be followed to the letter.
It serves as inspiration.
Look at my bio to see what I mean:
Add here's the response I got from my first match:
Do you want to know how to get more Bumble matches?
#7: The best 13 Bumble bio ideas
Get even better at Bumble bios by reading 13 bio examples with unique flavors.
Let's start with numero #1:
A clever combo of funny and sexual.
And even though I hate pineapple and pizza, I like this bio.
Plus it gets bonus points for being only two sentences long.
Bumble does well because it's so easy to swipe and match with cute strangers.
So women don't want to read a bio the length of a novel.
Now for a witty analogy in bio #2:
Very impressive.
It's not only unique, but this bio manages to share:
- Age
- Gender
- Skin tone
- Sexuality
- And her desire for a relationship!
Kudos. (Slightly long though.)
The writer of the next bio could start a successful career as a Hollywood scriptwriter:
After reading the first few words you just want to swipe left.
But then he mentions that he's a 'good luck charm'.
Intriguing.
Go on and you discover his big claim:
Two dates with a "total pice of shit" (he definitely wants to do a spell check) and you find your soulmate.
Totally worth it.
The most important takeaway from this bio?
He isn't trying to sell himself.
Better still, he charmingly calls himself an 'unloveable shit'.
With a horde of average Joe's trying to 'cool' their way into her panties, mister 'worst guy you will ever meet' pushes women away.
Many women won't be able to resist to swipe this guy right. If they can make it to the end of his bio, hehe.
Witty bio number #4 shows what it means to know your audience:
This bio gets a 9/10, it's one of the best.
It's brief.
It targets the right audience.
It's funny and witty.
And it's sexual without being raunchy.
This Bumble bio also shows you're free to lie about yourself as long as it's super obvious.
The author of profile text #5 is a plot twist master:
Firstly, great set up.
The first sentence makes you want to keep reading.
Then comes the twist.
He doesn't keep a gun to shoot burglars, but he keeps a gun to shoot himself to 'prevent social interactions with other people'.
The beauty of this misdirection is that it's relatable. It's a good bio for guys who playfully want to make clear they're inverted.
We all have times where we want to avoid being with others.
#8 is the most witty Bumble bio of the list:
There's not much to say besides that this funny bio is lighthearted and funny.
It makes you seem clever in a playful way since you display your knowledge about nature.
While you bash the great white shark since you're much more alpha than him of course.
For the old wine in a new bottle approach, see bio #7:
This is of course a rehash from the classic, "Lady in the streets, freak in the sheets."
It's not going to win prize for best Bumble bio.
But it's solid and does its job.
Bumble bio #8 gives a refreshing take on the swiping game:
Clever as phuck.
I don't like swiping games.
They were fun at first, but have lost their mojo.
So why am I advertising this bio?
Because it's the first swiping game in forever that made me chuckle.
Unlike most games, swiping in the direction of your political view actually makes sense.
If you're right-wing and politics is important to you, definitely give this bio a try.
It's one of the ways to filter your dates, this is an important principle I write about in my article about Tinder for marriage.
Bio #9 is a delicious brain teaser.
If you're out of the know, two truths and a lie is a game made to break the ice.
The point is to find the lie.
And it directly speaks to my inner child.
But what makes this puzzle especially good, is that it's impossible to solve.
So you're going to have lots of girls swipe you right, just to hear you give them the answer!
It's deliciously evil.
Bio #10 is the classic review bio:
The review bio has become a staple on dating apps.
And that's because you have so many ways to spice it up and make it your own.
If you're going to make a review bio, think about who is going to say something about you.
Batman? Oprah? The Pope?
So many possibilities.
And if you don't happen to be called John, fill in your name of choice.
Holy Tip:
After getting all those new Bumble matches that will start conversations with you…
…what do you text her afterwards?
I created a perfect conversation starter for this first message on Bumble.
It's perfect for guys, and I give these texts away in a video with 7 examples.
This conversation starter is called The Clickbait Opener, and you can download it for free.
And that's a great price.
#11 How to re-write the overdone bio list:
This is probably one of the most important skills to learn when writing Bumble bios.
I know you've seen lists like this before.
While I'm sure coffee, gym and partying play a huge role in some people's lives.
Writing about your passions like this is just boring.
It doesn't entertain me or your potential match.
So if you are going to talk about your hobbies, do it in a way that's engaging.
Using coffee, gym and party as my example, I get:
See the difference?
If a lady had cute photos paired with this bio, I'd swipe right.
But if she was cute and wrote 'coffee, party and party!' I'd swipe her left.
#12 Shows another example of giving and old saying a modern twist:
Is it the best Bumble bio?
No.
Is it brief and does give it the ladies a chuckle?
Yes.
It's funny, and it shows you're a bit of a bad boy.
Prepare to be opened by ladies with big buns.
#13 One extreme Bumble bio
If you've ever had a lady friend stay over for the night, you know this scenario.
Obviously she's never been as demanding as this bio shows.
But that's what gets the laugh.
The beautify of this bio is that women are familiar with it too.
If she has a sense of humor, there's a big chance she'll swipe you right for poking fun at her predictable female ways.
Only use this one if you have a rough dark kind of humor, some girls will not appreciate this rough bio description!
#8: How to get more Bumble matches
What you're about to learn is super important.
Because one sneaky Bumble function might be sabotaging your profile.
Bumble now 'intelligently' crops your profile photo.
If your first photo needs cropping, Bumbles automatically does it for you.
And there is no way to switch it off.
This might be tough to follow.
So let me explain using an example.
Imagine your profile photo is you posing with friends.
Before, you could instruct Bumble to focus on the part of the photo that showed you.
Keeping confusion about who you are to a minimum.
But now Bumble decides where to focus:
Dead center.
Useful…
Unless you're NOT the person in the middle!
How did I find out about this impressive Bumble update?
Because I was swiping on Bumble and bumped into this lady:
Hmmm.
That doesn't look like Rose to me.
I almost swiped left (rejected her).
But I then thought Rose had a wicked sense of humor and made a meme.
Curious, I checked the rest of her profile and found out that the brown curls (on the right of the picture) belonged to a beautiful Rose!
She's much prettier without the blur, I swear.
In sum, I almost rejected a gorgeous woman because of Bumble's automatic zoom function.
Holy Tip:
Don't use a group photo for your first photo.
Now you're getting more matches, let's check out your Bumble conversations.
#9: The #1 mistake that's ruining your Bumble conversations
What often goes wrong when flirting online is…
The ping-pong effect.
What do you do for a living?
I'm an accountant. Where are you from?
The main problem with these conversations, is that they're about you and her.
While a great conversation is about the two of you.
So make your convo about us and we.
Let me give you an example.
Here I'm sketching a scene about us.
Instead of two individuals, we're a team.
Here's her reaction:
Let's help you have even better conversations.
On to the next tip.
#10: How you're killing your attraction on Bumble
I can almost guarantee you're making the next mistake.
And it's killing your attraction.
Which is a shame, because it's so easy to avoid!
I'm of course talking about…
Being normal.
What's the issue with normal?
Every day of your life is filled with it.
Normal is everywhere you look.
You can't even put your foot down without stepping in normal.
I'm not really explaining why normal sucks, am I?
Okay.
Think back to what you had for dinner last night.
Take your time, I'll wait.
…
Took you a while to remember, didn't it?
Now, I'd wager my left nut that you would remember your evening meal in an instant, if you went to a restaurant.
Why?
Because eating out probably breaks the mold. (Unless you have money coming out of your ears.)
So eating away from home is unique.
Whereas home cooking is normal.
So if you want to make a good first impression, you better be special.
You don't want to be normal.
So what's normal?
- Questions about the mundane, "How are you?" / "What are you up to?"
- Polite and boring use of language, "How nice" / "Pretty good."
- Little humor outside the occasional pun, "Haha lol!"
And what is it like to be different?
Let me show you by analyzing coach Dan's Carbonara convo.
But before I hand you the answer, I want you to think about it.
What makes this conversation abnormal?
Really think it through. It will make you a better texter.
Cool.
Compare your answers to what I got:
- Coach Dan instantly says he loves her "IN THE HAT"
- He uses ALL CAPS
- He makes her his post brexit refugee wife in the second text
- He's feeding her carbonara "for LIFE"
- He uses odd punctuation, "Talk. More SAUCE."
Almost everything is off the wall.
And she says:
I love this conversation already.
Can you understand why?
Because most men are so terribly boring that an abnormal conversation is a breath of fresh air.
#11: How to get more Bumbles matches in under 5 minutes
Following a checklist can mean the difference between having 12+ matches a day, or zero Bumble matches.
In other areas of life, checklists can be a matter of life and death.
You may know that planes are safer than cars.
Impressively so, even.
Do you know why?
Checklists.
With over 100,000 commercial flights a day, there's a lot at stake and little room for error.
So checklists were made for plane manufacturing, flight control, plane safety and pilot protocol.
Before a plane successfully takes off, thousands of steps must be followed accurately.
One mistake could make the difference between landing safely or crashing into the earth.
Checklists save lives.
And they can save you from dying a virgin.
How?
Because I've made you a dating profile checklist.
To discover the weaknesses in your profile, all you need to do is fill in the 30+ questions.
Within five minutes, you'll know exactly how to create a more attractive profile.
And the best part?
It doesn't cost you a dime.
Just follow this link to get the Dating Profile Checklist.
#12: Steal my personal profile text
Most men write bios that get them rejected in an instant. But apply the advice of this tip and you'll see your matches soar.
So what does the average Joe do to get swiped left?
He writes a poor bio.
And truthfully…
Creating a good bio is difficult if you don't know what to do.
Do you want to make jokes?
Do you want to show you're a bad boy?
Should it be short or long?
That's a lot to think about.
And if you think wrong, you just lost a match.
Harsh.
Especially when you can simply follow my advice and make her swipe you right.
Plus, you can get your bio building insights without reading.
That's right.
I made a video for you where you can find the best Bumble bios…
Mine.
What can you expect?
- The three biggest Bumble bio mistakes
- My stealable Bumble 'about me' that attracts confident girls
- The formula to writing your own attractive profile text
You can check it out here.
I know the video has 'Tinder' in the title.
But don't worry.
The exact same principles apply to Bumble.
Next we'll dig into setting up your Bumble profile.
Some tags work in your favor, others against you.
#13: How to set up your Bumble profile
90+% of dudes recklessly fill in every tag Bumble offers and cockblock themselves.
Keep reading and you can be part of the 10% that match the most women.
Don't know what a tag is?
I'm 69% sure you're familiar with them.
Because when you swipe on Bumble, you can't miss 'em:
Some tags are useful and help your attraction.
But others scare her off and should be ignored.
Let me give you an example.
If you 666% must date a liberal girl, you better let Bumble know your political preference.
The same applies for other traits you find important.
Looking for a relationship?
Let her know by filling in the tag.
But what about those cockblocking tags?
Well, the one thing I NEVER fill out…
Is my star sign.
Why?
Because some women are enormously superstitious.
Some women are astrology nutters.
And if you're not her astrological match, they will swipe you left.
It makes ZERO sense. But it happens more often than you think.
By the way.
If you have a star sign a woman hates…
I have a secret technique to make her fall in love with your star sign.
But that one is reserved for inside my #courses.
#14: What to text after the Bumble date
Going on a first date is no guarantee you can take her out a second time. But with this tip's technique, setting up the next date is simple.
The world's best became good by watching, doing and teaching.
So kick back and enjoy the show.
You're about to see a conversation from one of the TextGod coaches.
But first some context.
Coach Dan (who is from Holland) was about to go out with a lady from Brazil.
Before the date, they jokingly spoke about the Dutch being cold and distant.
But during the date, Dan's date was delighted none of that was true. She even commented how Dan was more direct and sexual than most Brazilians.
Later Dan started a monologue about how ghey the monkey face emojis are, and how every self-respecting man should avoid them at all costs.
Maybe the monkeys don't ring any bells.
Good news.
Dan means these suckers:
And here is what he said after the date:
Is Dan using any secretive-classified-illuminati-techniques?
No.
To put it simply, you want your after-date-text to show:
- You had a good time, "Good seeing you"
- And a call back to the date "Cold dutch hugs"
And when replying to her message, Dan continues with:
- More call back humor, monkey emoji spam
- Setting up the date, "I'm in for movie night soon."
